'They're so into it': Perceptions of 'Religion', Orthodoxy and Belonging in Post-Yugoslav Serbia

Much has been written about how people embraced new religious identities following the collapse of socialist regimes. This article argues that it is also important to consider perspective those (sometimes sceptical) who may be less eager participate in new, emergent forms embodied practice. In ethnographic context post-Yugoslav Serbia, I ask 'religion' perceived, constituted, and evaluated from sidelines. How do local perceptions what connect - collide with wider ethno-moral communities? make this argument through a close analysis an interview female interlocutor, woman whilst declaring herself unambiguously 'Serbian' 'Orthodox' uncertain transformations she sees happening around her. Anthropologists must attend positionality feel at once related detached societal transformations, they sense such changes their own terms.
